Our Story

We were originally founded as "The Mental Health Chick" by Missy Blackmer in 2018, with the goal of providing supportive, encouraging content online for women. In 2021, Emily Whitacre joined as the social media manager and operations director, while Missy started to learn about how to launch online courses. While we were growing our footprint on social media, we were not growing and adding revenue as we had hoped.

While we were growing our online audience with Missy at the helm as "The Mental Health Chick," God started to shift our vision from ours to His. To our pleasant surprise we opened the Unboxed Grace Counseling Company online in 2023 and moved into our first physical location in 2024. As this business grew, we felt a calling to shift gears with The Mental Health Chick and Missy and Emily joined forces as co-founders to begin to rebrand as the Unboxed Grace Coaching Company, home of The Mental Health Chick. Emily and Missy plan to start a podcast and YouTube channel in 2025 that provides education and coaching opportunities in the areas of mental health, mindset and relationships as well as launch our online store where workbooks and inspirational products will be available.
