Hello
I'm Melissa "Missy" Blackmer, and I am excited to be able to use my 20+ years of experience in education, social services and mental health counseling, to become a mindset coach, business consultant and entrepreneur. I am passionate about helping high achieving women, entrepreneurs, leaders and businesses get anchored in purpose, calling and joy.
My Story
Professional Training
I have my master's degree in counseling and am a licensed therapist in the state of Indiana and a certified life coach. I also have an undergraduate degree in management and organizational development and an MBA with an emphasis in leadership. I love learning and continue to pursue training and excellence to help others. I am specifically trained in trauma, anxiety, compassion fatigue, management and leadership.

My Career
I've had the privilege of working in various roles, including manager, school counselor, mental health counselor, director of community base services, and clinical director through organization in Northeast Indiana. These experiences have provided me with a deep understanding of the diverse challenges individuals face in their quest for mental well-being. Since 2022, I have been working as a coach and consultant, curating training for companies and coaching women on mindset and purpose. I've also been a college professor since 2011, teaching undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of sociology, psychology, marriage & family, child & adolescent development, mental health counseling skills, culture & diversity, ethics and trauma. I am the co-founder and CEO of the Unboxed Grace Counseling Company and the founder of The Mental Health Chick, which was rebranded in 2024 to the Unboxed Grace Coaching Company, home of The Mental Health Chicks.
Specializations
My passion lies in helping high-achieving women transform their mindset and walk in their calling and purpose in order to reduce anxiety and improve work-life balance. I also enjoy helping churches, teams and businesses learn new way to lead, with an emphasis on creating compassionate, curious and authentic environments that honor the need to address mental wellness.

The Personal Side
Outside of my professional life, I'm a wife and mom to our two teenage boys. We are a dog loving home and have a poodle and a Boston terrier. I'm pretty unashamedly a Boston terrier fanatic! In my free time, I cherish moments with my family, contribute my talents to the worship team at my local church, and indulge in the world of audiobooks.
